There is no single "correct" dose of CBD. The ideal amount depends on your body weight, metabolism, and the reason you are taking it. The Biphasic Effect: CBD is known to have a 'biphasic effect', a scientific term meaning it can have different effects at low doses versus high doses. For example, a small dose might increase alertness, while a very high dose may promote sleep. This is the primary scientific reason why finding your personal 'sweet spot' is more effective than taking a generic high dose.

In the UK, the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) states that any product marketed with medicinal claims for animals is considered a veterinary medicine. Such products require a Marketing Authorisation to be legally sold. As CBD products are sold as food supplements, they do not have this authorisation, and therefore we cannot market or recommend them for animal use. This is a legal distinction about marketing, not product quality.

Veterinary professionals and scientific studies often discuss starting dosages based on an animal's weight. Common starting points explored in research are often between 0.2mg to 0.5mg of CBD per kilogram of body weight, once or twice a day.
